Yesterday I made a post asking the question, "is there anything that makes you unable to finish an otherwise engaging story?" Well, snowpuppies developed a poll based on the replies to this question which you can find here on LJ or here on IJ. The discussion here has slowed down a bit but is still on-going. However, if you prefer to express yourself via ticky, you might want to check it out. |

Your poll post is a great thread, I've been reading the comments with interest! Thanks for the link to snowpuppies', I took the opportunity to have a good long rant about my pet peeve. *happy sigh* I feel much better now!
I'm glad you enjoyed the post. The discussion has been fascinating and I'm all about the discussion. I'll have to pop over there and check out your rant. Glad you feel better. ;D
I went and ticked and ticked and ticked and ticked and ticked. It's a wonder I read anything at all. . . .
Considering how many things can potentially throw people out of fics it's a real testament to the high quality of writing available that there are so many fans still reading.
I know! I've read some absolutely amazing stories that involved no "emerald orbs," long explanations of what every minor character has been doing for the last twenty years, and no Snape looking beautiful while he presents Lupin or Harry or whoever with flowers. There is some magnificent stuff amongst the dreck in our corner of the fan fiction universe. | |
