Some Things I Do While Waiting on the Next Snarry Games Post.....	[Apr. 28th, 2008\|12:34 am]
My husband and I love theater. We don't get to see nearly enough professional productions, but we support community theater and local high school productions. Today we had the opportunity to see the musical, "My Fair Lady." I thought I'd share our conversation. Al: I know you like this show, but you're practically bouncing in your seat. Accio: OMG, Al. It's Snarry in musical form. Al: You know, you really need to cut back on the porn. The Games have taken over your brain. A bit later..... Al: Oh my God, you're right. It is Snarry. Sigh Yet another classic corrupted by the Snarry. So who do you think is Pickering? Accio: Oh, Lucius Malfoy. Al: Not Dumbledore? Accio: Lucius is hotter. Al: Freddy? Accio: Ron. Al: Ron Weasley? Didn't you say he's the straightest man alive? Accio: Well, Eliza is technically a woman. Al: But Harry isn't. Unless you want to do some sort of gender-bender thing. Or it could be a hermaphrodite fic. Or like that one fic where Harry was raised by his aunt to think he was a woman. Accio: "The Perfect Wife." I didn't realize you paid attention when I discuss Snarry fics with you. Well, unless they were written by Delta. Or Snapetoy. Al: You're more than a little hard to ignore. What's that story you're always complaining about? Accio: You're going to need to be more specific than that. Al: The one where Harry dies? Accio: You mean "If You Are Prepared." I always think I should re-read that one. Al: Warn me first. Last time you didn't get out of bed for a week. Accio: Stop exaggerating. It was three days. Al: Yes, not excessive in the least. I stand corrected. So anyway, why Ron and not Draco? Accio: You're probably correct that most people would cast Draco. Al: It's the whole hotter thing again, isn't it? Accio: Well, it's not like you could argue against that. But if Lucius was Pickering, it wouldn't work. And besides, Freddy is more like Ron. Good family but no money. Al: Doesn't Eliza marry Freddy in the book? That would make it a Harry/Ron fic. Accio: Bite your tongue! The musical has a more ambiguous ending but I'm sure any good Snarry fic would take a bit of dramatic license with the ending. Al: I'm amazed that no one has written that before. Accio: Hm. It's possible they have and I've missed it. Maybe I'll ask on snarryficfind. Al: Well, we'll be seeing The Taming of the Shrew next. At least there's no possibility of a Snarry in anything Shakespeare wrote. Accio: cough Al: I'm not taking you to any more shows.

I did that when they performed it when I was in High School still, and felt dirty for thinking such things about my classmates.

Heh. Well, at least I didn't know anyone in the production although they were all *very* young. Didn't stop my imagination from running wild, though. ;D

It really made a difference when Al got to meet some of the authors. Now it's not so much talking about Snarry fics as Snarry friends.

Umm, I've written My Fair Lady as a Harry/Ron with Ron as Freddy and Snape as Higgins, lol!!!

Oh, wow, that's really perfect. I just am in the group that wanted Eliza to end up with Higgins though since he was such an arsehole I have no clue why. If I could just believe that Ron was gay I know I would be a Harry/Ron shipper. All my other OTPs are guys who are the same age and best friends. But, as always, Snarry has to be different. ;D

Heh. Yes, I suppose you're right. Though since most of my OTPs are men who are the same age and best friends I don't tend to run into Snarry parallels as often. I know they're out there but the Snarry dynamic isn't usually my cuppa so I miss them.

I've sat at jazz concerts and found slash sub-text. My husband has no delusions about me not finding something slashy. Now, he beats me to making up the sub-text or deciding on the pairing.

I've thought for a while that Snape would make a good Henry Higgins and Harry would be a great Eliza! I hint at it in my story Harry Angel, but I would love to read any other versions!

It really is perfect. I keep thinking I must just have some kind of mental block because *surely* there are Snarry adaptations out there somewhere.

And, yes, Al really is as wonderful as he sounds. I'm very, very fortunate.
