| Another Good Week for Me... |

Yesterday may have been a lucky day for my daughter at the casino, but this week has been a lucky one for me in terms of fandom. For those of you who missed this fabulous set of Snarry Easter eggs sealcat made me for my birthday, well they have arrived *dances* and are even more fabulous (and delicate) in person. I'm trying to figure out the best way to display them to keep them safe from both dust and curious felines. Ginger cat, Fred, has already expressed far too much interest in them even when I had them displayed in egg cups on the highest shelf.

And in other gifts I received this week, I need to point everyone to two more fics written to prompts I provided to two talented and generous ladies on my flist. ♥♥♥
alisanne wrote me sweetly romantic Snarry *swoons* for my birthday. As she notes, there are no warnings although if you choose to, you could see Mpreg if you squint. Silly girl, she doesn't know my prescription strength Snarry goggles come complete with an mpreg lens. There are two first dates gone wrong but more than enough reasons to suspect that everything else goes just right.

With impeccable timing as usual, the plague is currently visiting my house. *eye roll* So when I woke up this morning I thought I'd do a quick check of my email to see if there were any extension requests or entries for Snarry-a-Thon. And while there were some of those, there was also a message from the extraordinary and always lovely mia_ugly with a link to yet another birthday present! Forty-nine is shaping up to be a very good year indeed. ;D

Clearly I need to have more birthdays as the pressies keep coming. ;D Though these lovely ficlets from the amazingly versatile iulia_linnea who wrote me ALL THE THINGS five different pairings came about because today is clearly my lucky day and I managed to squeak my way under the wire with her prompt-taking poll. It's currently closed, but you may want to keep checking her journal because I might get there first you never know when she'll be taking more prompts. | Yay for RL Madness... |

While I plan to be around at various points over the next few days week, I have a ton of both rl and fannish things on my 'to-do' list so I may or may not reply to e-mails/comments/posts as quickly as I normally would.
But one of the many fun things on the list will be trying to see if I can recreate these Angry Birds Easter Eggs with my nephew. I'll be doing a dry run before he gets here Saturday, but I'm going to see how much I can do with standard dyes before I give in and just paint the things. ;D Like everything that looks easy, I'm sure this will be more challenging than it appears. He is a 'pig' fanatic so I'm guessing as long as I have that one down it'll be the only thing that matters. Oh! And I need to make a map of where all I'll be hiding the Easter eggs. Otherwise I know I'll still be finding them at Halloween.
Also! Amazon just delivered the last two books in the Hunger Games Trilogy as an early birthday present. I couldn't put the first one down so I'll be eager to see what I think of these. |

You can find out more about me from my user info page but the short version is that while I do lurk in a number of different fandoms and I enjoy reading all types of journals, I am monofannish in terms of participation and a solid OTPer.
I've been involved with slash fandom since I was 18. And I absolutely would have read it earlier if I had known where to find it. My earliest work is only available in fanzines, most of which had a print run of perhaps only 50-100 copies. And while I did use a number of pseudonyms - including some I can't recall - for at least 20 years most people knew me in fandom by my real name. If you are curious about my personal experiences with fandom during the 1980's, you can click on my 30th anniversary post. But for everyone else this rambling does have a point.

We just wrapped up the final posting for Snarry Swap 2012 at snape_potter. We'll be posting the reveal on Saturday, Feb 4, so you still have a few days to read through the entries while they are anonymous. Several people mentioned to me that they found my pointer post for the first three weeks of Snarry Swap helpful, so I'm continuing with entries from the remainder of the fest. We've been fortunate to have a great deal of variety at the fest and hopefully this list will help you identity something you'd like to read or view.
It's always unfortunate that entries posted toward the end of a fest don't get the same attention as those posted earlier. So if you see something you enjoy, please take a moment to leave some ♥ for the author or artist. Your comment could make someone's day.

Everyone knows I have a soft spot for mpreg and kid!fic - but I have to point you to some art that made me melt.
Title: Everything He Ever Wanted
Characters/Pairings: Severus Snape/Regulus Black
Rating: G
Prompt: #90 It was the night of Lily's death and Severus was in pain. He found comfort in Regulus. And a lot more than that as well. (Regulus never died)
Oh, I love everything about this piece. The utterly besotted expression on Snape's face, the protective pose that makes it clear that everyone in the piece is cherished by the others, and the idea that Severus was able to find some comfort on that horrible night. Really lovely and emotionally satisfying work. Snape/Regulus has always been my head canon and I was thrilled to see something with my favorite 'canon' couple. Go look!
And, while I'm doing non-Snarry recs - check out The House Elf’s Tale by gingertart50. I have to confess, I never really seek out fic with magical creatures and tend to ignore them when they appear in fic as OC's. But there must be something about gingertart50, because I LOVED her OC House Elf Dimple in Lacrimosa in the Tesco Coffee Aisle and in The House Elf’s Tale she breathed new life and dignity into Winky (and Snape) in just 1500 words. There is just so much story in those handful of words that I couldn't believe that's all the words there were. I really felt for Winky and cared about her. She seemed so present and dependable and it really eased my heartache for Snape knowing she was there for him during that most difficult final year. A genuine masterpiece anyone who loves Snape would enjoy. |
